The 102nd Asian Athletics Council Meeting was held today at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai. The Asian Council discussed a number of matters pertaining to past and some future Events to be organized by Asian Athletics. President AA General Dahlan Al Hamad praised the UAE Athletics Federation for hosting the Asian Council meeting and the Under-20 Asian Athletics Championships being held from 24 – 27 April at the Police club stadium, Dubai. He applauded the organizational abilities of Major General Dr. Muhammad Al Mur, President UAE Athletics Federation and his entire team who organized this mega event so soon after last week’s weather calamity in Dubai.

The Asian Athletics Council approved the following events that will be added to the AA Activity calendar.

• Asian Half Marathon (Three competitions to be organized within a period of 8 months)
• Asian Relays championships (Every 2 years with prize money for winners)
• Asian under -23 Athletics championships (starting from 2026 every 2 years)
• Asian Marathon championship will be a part of the Asian Athletics Championships and not be organized as a separate event.

General Dahlan thanked the UAE Athletics Federation for being a generous host and wished all athletes good luck in their competitions ahead.
